LESSONS

BEGINNER JEWELRY LESSONS
For everyone! I’ve had the pleasure to teach people with absolutely no crafting experience to people with jewelry businesses looking to learn a new technique, children as young as 8, and people with two-inch manicured nails. They’ve ALL walked out wearing metal pieces made with their very own hands. These classes are your introduction to the world of metalsmithing.
-

INTERMEDIATE JEWELRY LESSONS
…are for people who have already taken a beginner class or have done metalsmithing in the past. If you are one of the latter, I will contact you prior to our lesson so we can discuss your experience!
-

CUSTOM JEWELRY LESSONS
…are for both beginner and intermediate students who have an idea for a piece that they’d like to make. These lessons are tailored specifically to what you’d like to try whether that’s a technique or a design. Please book a 30 minute Custom Design Consultation to discuss the details of your project. I will be able to evaluate the time and materials necessary for a final cost as well as determine a schedule that works for us both.

In this 2 hour group workshop you will produce multiple sterling silver and brass stacking rings to wear home. This specific workshop is for children as young as 8 and their adult companion! During this experience you'll learn about the tools and equipment and then how to size, form, saw, solder, shape, hammer (texturize) and polish sterling silver and brass using tools such as a caliper, jewelers saw, files, multiple hammers, a butane torch and a flex shaft among others. No experience necessary and all tools and materials will be provided. I have taught this class to children as young as eight who have had the extra helping hands of their adult. However, you, the adult, will be making too (if you’d like)!
Introduction to Metalsmithing: Make Your Own Stacking Rings @ Forager Crafts 9/24
You will produce at least one, but most likely between 2-3 sterling silver or brass (or both) stacking rings to wear home. You'll learn about the tools and equipment and how to size, saw, solder, shape, hammer and polish the metals using tools such as a caliper, jewelers saw, files, hammers, and a butane torch (among others). We will measure your finger, choose the type of wire you’d like to work with, and measure out the length of wire we must use for your ring. You'll then saw the wire, form and prepare it for soldering, seal the joint with a torch, shape it into a perfect-fitting ring with a hammer and mandrel, and file and polish until it's ready to wear. We will do this as many times as possible, time permitting. You’ll have the choice between different sizes and shapes of wire as well as the opportunity to add your own texture or use pre-patterned wires I’ll also have available. This introductory workshop will give you a taste of metalsmithing jewelry as well as the skills to make a lot more! I’m happy to share resources for making your own home jewelry set up after falling in love with your new skill set.
